Communication is key: As part of our ongoing commitment to facilitating all-way communication, this bulletin was created to engage staff on key areas of interest and provide regular updates from all areas of Campus Operations & Risk Management.
Congratulations, Rob!
At the August 31st DVC Town Hall, we had the great pleasure of watching Rob Buonomo receive a Staff Award of Excellence for Enhancing the UBC Experience. Rob was recognized for his exceptional customer service, and the pride and care that he takes in major events like Convocation as well as meeting the day-to-day requirements of the campus. Rob sets a high standard for his team and inspires to meet them.
In fact, Rob's work on campus is so exemplary that he received two separate nominations - one from Facilities Management and one from Marla MacDonald with the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences. Rob, congratulations again on an honour well earned.
Welcome Cassandra
Please join me in welcoming Cassandra McFarland to the Campus Operations and Risk Management team. Cassandra will be taking over Natalie’s responsibilities while she travels abroad over the next three-months. I am pleased to share that Cassandra has an extensive background in post-secondary having worked for the University of Lethbridge, Centre for Arts and Technology and Okanagan College. She brings with her a variety of experience in event management, administration, and communications and marketing.
Originally from Alberta, Cassandra moved to Kelowna in 2012 to escape the cold prairie winters and enjoy the famous Okanagan sunshine. Cassandra is a proud mom of her two cats, Norman and Charlie, and during her spare time enjoys volunteering as the Director of Communications for the Okanagan Pride Society and as a Cat Care Attendant for the BCSPCA.
Natalie wishes all of you a happy fall and looks forward to working with you again when she returns from her travels in December.
Thanks Mike
Mike Sutherland has just finished another summer with Facilities Management. Michael joined our team for a second summer to support the enhancement of the campus irrigation systems. This year he also spent two months working on behalf of the Energy Team replacing T8 florescent light tubes with new LED tubes. During the summer he also supported the FSW and SSA teams with around campus on various small projects. We enjoyed his humour and thank him for his hard work!
