Commons Field Enhancements

Design is complete for the Commons Field Enhancement Project, which will take place this summer. The enhancement will extend playing time on the field with the addition of lighting, a slackline complex, and an improved playing surface.

We expect to receive proposals for the project today (July 4). Construction will begin in early August to allow the grass to take root prior to winter.

To protect the field, fencing will remain in place until March 2018. During this time, events normally scheduled for the Commons field have found alternate locations. Large events such as FROSH will be moved permanently to Parking Lot H.

We're very excited to see the completed field in September.

Welcome Michelle

Michelle Majeran will join the Facilities team as the new Facilities Support Coordinator in late July. She is transferring from Student Recruitment and Advising where she worked for 5 years, coordinating event logistics at venues across Canada and at both campuses. Michelle is proud to say that her son just graduated from high school and is already attending BCIT. She looks forward to starting her new role with Facilities and maybe even introducing her dog Radar to the team.

We would also like to thank Kristin Forcier and Jonathan Durynek for their contributions to the CORM team.

Summer's here...

...and here's wishing you a safe and happy summer. Thank you for all you do!

Sincerely,

Shelley Kayfish
Director, Campus Operations & Risk Management
