Celebrating a job well done

CORM has a lot to celebrate with the opening of John Hindle Drive and Upper Campus Way--not only the improved access to campus, but the hard work from our team to make it happen. Many thanks to:

  • Roger Bizzotto, Troy Campbell, Marty Gibb, and Jason McLeod for reviewing traffic changes to ensure the safety of the campus community;
  • Jason and Derek Mahoney for coordinating Traffic Control Personnel on campus to help manage the traffic changes;
  • Ted Sandstra, for funding signage, bollards, and barriers through the parking lot project budget and coordinating the many people and moving parts involved;
  • Marty, Ted, Cathy King, Matt Litzenberger and Jeff Vogt for coordinating the delivery, installation, and activation of streetlights on Upper Campus Way;
  • James Hembling for building and painting the bases for the new signage installed on campus, and;
  • Rob Buonomo, Don Giang, Alfonso Martinez, Kevin Pierce, Michael Thompson, and Francisco Ugarte for installing signs and barriers on campus.

Thank you again for your tremendous team effort and your commitment to making our campus a safer place.

Welcome Jenny and Kimberly

Jenny DeGelder joined Campus Security at the end of August. She has lived in Kelowna for the last 18 years with her husband and 2 very active teenagers. Jenny spent over 12 years in the health care industry before coming to UBCO, where she worked with SHHS as a Conference Sales and Services Manager before joining Security as a Security Communications Coordinator.

Kimberly Lange joined Security and RMS in September as a Support Services Assistant. Her favourite things are coffee, dogs, music, stand-up comedy, cooking, and gardening. She volunteers annually for both the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign and the Canadian Legion poppy campaign - if anyone wants to volunteer with her, it's always more fun with a group!

Facilities Biennial Waste Audit

Facilities Management will be conducting its Biennial Campus Waste Audit in the courtyard on October 4th, 8am-2pm. Garbage, recycling, refundables, and compost from 14 campus buildings will be assessed to determine how much campus waste could be diverted from landfills, and to make recommendations for a more sustainable campus.

If you would like to volunteer please contact Derek and let him know your preferred time for participating.
