Privacy Matters To You

Imagine you're working remotely and your laptop gets stolen, what do you do? What about if you mistakenly sent a confidential email to someone outside of the organization, would you know what steps to take to rectify the incident?

Privacy Matters Training provides proper education on various privacy issues including the importance of encryption, best practices when working remotely and how to properly report privacy incidents.

To date, only 44% of our division has completed the Privacy Matters Training. We would like to be leaders in this area and see our team reach 100% completion.

The training is accessible online and with your CWL login. The training consists of five educational videos. Following each video, a short quiz must be completed. These quizzes permit multiple attempts and your answers are confidential. Upon completion, please print the certification that training has been successfully completed and have this certification filed in your personnel file.

We are also in the process of organizing face to face training sessions which will be held within the next month. Information about these training sessions will be sent out once the details are finalized. For additional information, or if you have any questions, please contact Cassandra McFarland directly.

WES Survey

The Workplace Experience Survey is now live! We encourage you to participate in the survey so that UBC can obtain a greater understanding of what's important to our faculty and staff. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and closes on November 21.

New Lead Electrician

Matt Litzenberger joined the Facilities Management electrical team in 2014. Matt is from Vernon, BC and is a Red Seal Journeymen Electrician with his FSR-B Ticket. Over the past 3 years Matt has maintained the campus wide fire systems. Matt was instrumental with the installation of the new campus wide fire system upgrade in 2016.

In September Matt took on the new electrical supervisory position in which he supervises three other electricians. When he is not on campus maintaining the fire and electrical systems he spends his free time playing hockey, fishing, and spending time with his beautiful wife and 2 energetic (and adorable) children.

We are excited to welcome Matt into his new role!
